At 6:00 in the morning we will travel to Chincheros. You must get up early to catch the rising thermals wafting up the valley walls. This is the same reason you have to get up early to see condors. In Chincheros the guide will give instructions, talk about weather conditions, and demonstrate the equipment. We prepare the paraglide. Then we run with it. Then we practice landings. We run and jump over little ledges of a meter (the first time), then up to five or ten meters, and practice landing. We come home at noon when the good winds die. Tandem Flights Cusco.
We go to Chincheros again at dawn. We try the jumps again, and if you know how to land now, you go jump 100 meters. This really has more to do with flying than with jumping. So now we learn to control the parapeglide in the air and do slaloms (zigzags). We practice flying about at low elevation.
At dawn we go flying. The longest flight will be 800 meters. We start up at 3900 meters of altitude. The flight will last some 15 minutes depending on air conditions. You are always in open frequency radio contact with the instructor so there is no need for panic, and can ask advice about any problems that arise. We get back to Cusco around 1:00 PM.
