ITINERARY

Day 1: San Pedro de Atacama – Lagunas Altiplánicas – Mallku Villa Mar

Our tour begins with a 6:30 AM pick-up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. After completing immigration formalities at the Chilean-Bolivian border, we will transfer to a 4×4 vehicle for the salt flats.
We will visit the spectacular Green and White Lagoons, located at the foot of the imposing Licancabur volcano. We will cross the Dalí Desert to reach the hot springs and the Sol de Mañana Geysers, a spectacular display of fumaroles and water fountains reaching temperatures of 90°C (194°F). We will end the day with a visit to Laguna Colorada, the main nesting sanctuary for more than 30,000 flamingos. During the journey, at an approximate altitude of 4,420 meters above sea level, we will spot flora and fauna such as vicuñas and various birds. Finally, we will head to the village of Mallku Villa Mar (3,990 meters above sea level) to spend the night.

Day 2: Mallku Villa Mar – Ciudad de Piedra – Hotel de Sal


After breakfast, we will begin our day visiting Lost Italy. This site is home to impressive lava formations and volcanic sediments sculpted by time. During the journey across the high plateau, we will be surrounded by Andean flora and fauna, where it will be possible to spot vicuñas, rheas, foxes, viscachas, and herds of llamas.

In the afternoon, we will visit the mystical Black Lagoon in the Katal area, a dark body of water surrounded by rock formations. We will continue towards the Inca Canyon (or Inca Waterfall) and the Sora Wetland, a vital ecosystem for local wildlife. We will pass through the town of San Agustín and conclude the day with an overnight stay at a Salt Hotel.

Day 3: Salt Hotel – Isla Incahuasi – Villa Mar


This day begins with sunrise over the vast salt flats. We continue to Incahuasi Island, an ancient coral reef in the middle of the salt flats, surrounded by ancient cacti.
We will discover the geological secrets of the salt flats at the Ojos del Salar (Eyes of the Salt Flats) and learn about the traditional salt production process at the collection piles and in the town of Colchani, where you can purchase local handicrafts, finally, we will also visit the train cemetery. After a short stay in Uyuni, we will begin our return journey to the town of Villa Mar, where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Villa Mar – Frontera Hito Cajón – San Pedro de Atacama


We begin our final day at 4:00 AM with the return trip to the Bolivian-Chilean border. After completing the necessary immigration procedures, we will transfer to a minibus at 9:00 AM. The trip concludes with our arrival in San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 1:00 PM, marking the end of our services.

  • Transfer to Atacama: US$ 30 per person
  • Transfer from Calama Airport to San Pedro de Atacama: $35 per person (shared transfer)

We recommend to bring:

  • Medication to prevent altitude sickness (soroche).
  • Sunglasses with UV protection and broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  • Reusable water bottle and light snacks (energy bars or nuts).
  • Warm thermal clothing and long-sleeved shirts for sun protection.
  • Gloves, scarf, and hat for areas with lower temperatures.
  • Windproof jacket or technical jacket.
  • Hiking boots or shoes.
  • Camera or mobile device with sufficient memory to capture the scenery.

Seasonal Considerations

  • Dry Season (May to November): Characterized by clear skies, strong solar radiation during the day, and nighttime frosts.
  • Rainy Season (December to April): Waterproof clothing or rain ponchos are essential, as rain can be persistent.
