Absolutely, we recommend to use trekking poles, especially for those passengers with known knee problems. There are multiple times during the trek that a Trekking poles is handy, be it ascending a mountain or walking down immense sets of Inca stairs. It will help with your balance and reduce the impact on your knees. Eric Adventures and the INC ask that you not use trekking poles with metal tips as it damages the trail. You can purchase rubber tips for metal poles from any local camping shop.

No, unfortunately, once your reservation is confirmed, we can not change your trekking date or reimburse your permit; this is why you should be very sure of the dates for which you book your hike.

On The Tour:

During the “rainy season” (1 Dec - 1 April), you could have some rain any day but you can expect that it could rain every day in Feb and could be heavy! Often in Dec and Jan you may just get some light continual showers or it could be fine and then a heavy afternoon downpour but in truth you could also have fine days. At the same time, it will also be noticeably warmer at night. The day times will get up to about 25 degrees Celsius, the low will be about 2 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, during the “dry season” (Apr – Nov) the daytimes will seem strikingly like spring time, with bright and sunny skies, but it will be much colder at night. During the daytime you can expect it to be somewhere in the range of 18 to 28 degrees Celsius and at night it will be as low as 0 to -5 degrees Celsius.

ESTIMATED TEMPERATURES ON THE INCA TRAIL 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS
MONTHS SEASON TEMPERATURES
DAY NIGHT
November - March Rain Between 28°C and 10°C Between 10°C and 7°C
April - October Dry Between 28°C and 9°C Between 5°C and -5°C

The Inca Trail is perfectly safe during the rainy season. Some people like to go during the rainy season because there are fewer tourists than the high season. You will just have to bring good rain gear and waterproof boots.

We can not guarantee that we will camp in Wiñaywayna because that is determined by the DDC (Decentralized Directorate of Culture, Cusco, the government agency that controls the Inca Trail). So, the itinerary of the last day would change being the overnight in Phuyupatamarca and the 4th day descend to Winayhuayna and continue until Machu Picchu arriving after 4 hours approximately.

This does not happen very often; However, if it happens, our guides are very experienced and know how to act in case of any emergency or unexpected occurrence; They will do everything possible to help you complete your walk. In addition, first aid kits and oxygen tanks are brought for emergencies. However, if you become seriously ill and need to return to Cusco, you will be treated quickly and arrangements will be made for you.

5 am every day but the last day, we will wake up very early around 3:30 AM, this is because our porters have to take the first local train to Cusco and they have to carry all camp equipment in order to return to Cusco. If you have hired a porter, the last day he will bring your bag until a storage in Aguas Calientes town.

Yes, there are bathrooms from the INC(Instituto Nacional de Cultura), and from the local people that live in the Inca Trail, notice that the bathrooms around the Inca Trail are basics ones, please bring your own toilet paper, there are showers as well but you have to pay an extra amount in order to use them(so please bring additional money for bathrooms and showers)..., showers are available on first and second day(showers are most of the time with cold water).

You will find small stores during the first and second day; there you can buy Water, Gatorade, Chocolates, Candies, etc. For the 3 and 4 day, we will provide you one litter of boiled water every morning.

If you are thinking to buy the extra tickets for Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain it is recommended to spend 1 day more in Machu Picchu and buy those fees for the day before to the Inca Trail(the 5 day), we recommend it because sometimes there is not so much time to visit these places on the 4th Inca Trail’s day(after your Machu Picchu visit)....

The entrance ticket included in this tour is for Inca Trail + Machu Picchu. If you want to visit the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, the additional cost is 90 Dollars per person, since we have to buy another ticket to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Mountain. This amount does not includes a guide

If you do not bring your original passport, you will not be allowed to go inside the Inca Trail.
