SACRED VALLEY AND MACHU PICCHU

One of the classic places not to be missed during your visit to Cusco is the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu. This tour normally lasts 2 days / 1 night and takes you through the valley where they are home to beautiful traditional Andean villages and archeological remains from the Inca era.

 

 

Departure from Cusco is around 08:30hrs, and begins with a visit to Pisaq, located approximately 1 hour from Cusco. You will visit the Pisaq Handicrafts Market, which is one of the most famous handicrafts markets in South America and has a wide variety of textile products, food, pottery and silverware.

 

After the visit to the market, we will continue to the archaeological complex of Pisaq located at 2,950 meters above sea level and is one of the most beautiful monumental centers of the valley because it combines the landscape with its magnificent constructions which are said to have been the home of the Inca Pachacutec as the place is composed of platforms, domestic and ceremonial structures, and aqueducts that provided water for agricultural exploitation.

 

After a delicious buffet lunch, we will continue to the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo which was a military, religious and agricultural center. The architecture of the place has its particularities and causes interest for the size, style and originality of its buildings. Due to its strategic location, Ollantaytambo was a military construction erected to protect the capital of the Inca empire from possible invasions.

The ruins of Ollantaytambo are co-founded with the town as many Inca canals are currently used.

 

 

At the end of the tour in Ollantaytambo, we will go to the town to wait for the train that will take us to the town of Machu Picchu: Aguas Calientes. It is necessary to reserve in advance the train tickets, since they are limited and personalized tickets. The duration of the trip is approximately 2 hours and you can board the train with a small bag or a backpack with a maximum weight of 5 kg / 11 lb and can not measure more than 157 cm (height + length + width). You only have to take what is necessary for this tour, the rest of the luggage, you can leave it in the luggage compartment of your hotel in Cusco.

 

The next morning, we will take the bus uphill from Aguas Calientes to MachuPicchu through a winding road for about 30 minutes. You will have a magical and fascinating tour within the walls of the lost city of the Incas Machu Picchu, considered a masterpiece due to its architecture and engineering as well as being recognized as an important religious, political and administrative center of the Inca era. After the guided tour, you will have extra time to enjoy the citadel on your own.

 

At the end of the tour, we will take our bus down to Aguas Calientes and wait for our train that will take us back to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo, the transport will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
