Qeros, the last Inca Nation
ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco – Paucartambo – Q’eros
We pick up our guests from their hotel at 6:30 am, heading to Ninamarca, where we will make a stop. We will then continue to the colonial town of Paucartambo for approximately 2.5 hours (breakfast). We will continue our journey to the Q’ero Community (Chua Chua), a 3-hour drive. We will arrive at the community around 1:00 pm, where we will spend the night, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the cultural and spiritual experience of the area.
Day 2: Chua Chua – Hatun Q’ero
This day we will start at 6:00 am with hot water and coca tea. We will have a light and energizing breakfast to begin our hike, descending for 5 hours along a traditional Q’ero trail. We will arrive at Hatun Q’ero, where we will have a typical lunch and visit the archaeological site of the ancient Q’ero people. We will spend our second night here. We will be able to share our experiences around a campfire, connecting with nature.
Day 3: Hatun Q’ero – Huamanlipa
We begin the most challenging day of the hike, leaving the warm weather behind to head toward the highest and most significant mountain for the Q’ero community. We will enjoy lush scenery during the 5-hour hike, passing through a small Q’ero village.
In the afternoon, we will arrive at our campsite, located at the foot of Huamanlipa Mountain. This is a perfect place to enjoy the sunset among the high jungle mountains and the nearby snow-capped mountains. We will spend the night here.
Day 4: Chua Chua (Q’ero) – Cusco
On this last day, we will hike for 3 hours, passing by a beautiful turquoise lagoon, until we reach Chua Chua. There, we will have the opportunity to meet the Q’ero women, famous for their textile work, such as blankets, llicllas, and chuspas, in a craft exhibition and their unique skill, which is not found anywhere else in the Andes.
After sharing our last lunch with the Q’ero families, we will begin the return trip to Cusco, which takes approximately 6 hours.
