Eco Tour in the Peruvian Amazon

Iquitos is a magic place in the heart of the Peruvian Jungle, located northwest in the country, Iquitos is the largest jungle city in Peru it is also isolated from other big cities in PERU, without roads, the only way to get there is by air.

ITINERARY

Day 1: IQUITOS

The tour begins at 9:30 a.m. with a boat ride along the Nanay River, until reaching the Amazon River. A visit is made to the indigenous community “Kukamas or Yaguas”. Then, we arrive at Fundo Pedrito, an animal farm where paiches, piranhas, alligators, turtles, parrots, macaws, anacondas are fed and the Victoria Regia plant can be seen.

At noon, we arrive at Avatar Amazon Lodge, where we have lunch and settle into cabins. Afterwards, we take an excursion to the Free Animal Reserve, observing monkeys, macaws, anteaters, parrots, sloths, “mata mata” turtles and anacondas.

Dinner is served around 7:30 p.m. and then a night excursion through the jungle, either on foot or by canoe, to observe nocturnal animals such as tarantulas, cicadas, spiders, scorpions, praying mantises and listen to the songs of owls and sounds of other animals.

Day 2: Iquitos, Avatar Lodge

observe the typical birds of the area. Then, you return to the ecolodge for breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

Afterwards, you take a walk to the Canopy Park, a 35-meter-high structure that offers an impressive view of the jungle. In addition, you can enjoy a circuit of zip lines, hanging bridges, climbing nets and pendulums, providing an adrenaline-filled experience. After so much excitement, you can relax in the pool.

At 1:00 p.m., lunch, followed by piranha and other fish fishing, using traditional methods from indigenous communities or with sport fishing equipment.

There is the possibility of swimming in the Amazon River, located just 10 minutes from the ecolodge, and enjoying the scenery. In summer, you can take advantage of the natural mud treatment on the banks of the river, a rejuvenating experience for the skin.

You can also observe the famous pink and gray dolphins, known for their elegance in the Amazon River.

Dinner at 7:30 p.m. and, later, the guides tell legends and stories about Amazonian mythology, night at the lodge.

Day 3: Iquitos – Airport

The day begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., a botanical walk is done where you can observe the typical flora and fauna of the region, learning about the multiple uses of plants by the local people. During the hike, you will visit the giant Lupuna tree or Ceiba of the jungle, an ancient tree that stands out in the Amazon rainforest.

Check-out will be at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch at 1:00 p.m. at the Lodge.

At 2:00 p.m., you will take a boat ride down the Amazon River to the city of Iquitos or directly to the airport. You are expected to arrive in Iquitos around 3:30 p.m., end of our services!

  • Wide brim hat (for sunny days), sun glasses
