AREQUIPA COLCA CANYON 2 DAYS TOUR ENDING IN PUNO

The most efficient way to travel from Arequipa to Puno! Save travel time by exploring the Colca Canyon.

The Colca Canyon, located 4 hours from Arequipa, is considered one of the deepest canyons in America (3200 meters deep) and an extension of approximately 100kms. It is habitat of great diversity of plants and animals, the most prominent animal that is seen with greater regularity is the Andean Condor, flying bird considered the heaviest and largest in the world.

Puno located at 3,855 meters above sea level, is an important corridor for tourists traveling between Peru and Bolivia or vice versa, a fantastic place to visit, full of culture, history and magnificent places like the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca.

ITINERARY

DAY 01 – AREQUIPA / CHIVAY

From 7:30 to 8:00am, we pick up our passengers at their hotels in Arequipa, in the direction of the deepest canyon in the world. We will pass through the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, and the Pampa Cañahuas where you can see majestic vicuñas(That is a South American camelid/national symbol of Peru), and a variety of migratory birds. We will make a stop in Patapampa at 4,800 meters above sea level, the highest part of the route, to observe the western mountain range and the volcanoes. We will arrive in Chivay at approximately 13:30hrs, we arrange our belongings in your hotel and at the end of the afternoon, we will visit the thermal baths of Calera.

DAY 02 – CHIVAY / CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR / CHIVAY / PUNO

After breakfast, at 6:15 am, we will visit the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint for approximately 2 hours, where we can appreciate the depth of the Colca Canyon and enjoy the flight of the Andean Condor. On the way back, we will visit the towns of Yanque, Pincholo, and Maca.

After lunch, we start the trip to Puno, stopping at the viewpoint of Lagunillas, a strategic place where are some lakes that look like mirrors reflecting the sky and diversity of birds, like flamenco. At approximately 20:00hrs, we will arrive to Puno.

NOTES:

Number of passengers per group: approximately 13.
It is important that guests check out of their hotels and take all their luggage with them, we won’t return to the city of Arequipa.
Each passenger is allowed to carry one piece of luggage weighing up to 20 kg.
Pick-up or drop-off at the port of Puno incurs an additional cost of US$10 per passenger.
In our shared services, we will pick-up our clients from your hotel as long as it is located in the downtown.
In our shared services, at the end of the tour, we leave our clients in a place close to the Main Square, because is easier go walking instead the car.. If your hotel is far from the downtown, take some cash with you in order to take a taxi.
Pick-up and drop off times are referential, this will depend on the traffic that can be found in the streets or delay of the other clients, our assistant will be on time but sometimes the transport could delay a few minutes.

To confirm your booking:

50% of the total must be paid in advance. We accept credit cards (+5.5% commission). The remaining balance must be paid in cash in US dollars before the tour begins.
We will send a payment link to our clients for this purpose.

To ensure a valid payment:

The client must ensure their credit card allows payments from outside their country of origin; otherwise, the card will need to be unblocked.
Additionally, the client must complete the passport fields using only numbers (no letters).

Once payment is made, we require the following:

A copy of the passport of the person who made the payment (to verify their identity with the Peruvian Tax Authority)
Names and addresses of your hotels in Arequipa, Chivay, and Puno.
Specify the language of the tour: English or Spanish

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay the remaining balance in soles?

No, payment must be made exclusively in US dollars (USD) and with the exact amount, as we do not have change.

Note: You will find ATMs to easily withdraw dollars in both Arequipa and Puno.

Is the visit to the La Calera hot springs included?

Yes, transportation is included for passengers staying in downtown Chivay. If your hotel is outside of Chivay, you can visit the hot springs after lunch and then make your own way back to your accommodation.

Is there a surcharge for transfers to hotels outside of Chivay (Yanque, Coporaque, etc.)?

Yes. If your accommodation is located on the route to Cruz del Cóndor (outside of downtown Chivay), the additional transfer service costs US$25 per person.

Do you provide an exact time for hotel pick-up at the start of the tour?
We don’t provide an exact pick-up time, but we will give you a time range. As this is a shared tour, the transportation route varies depending on city traffic and the hotel locations of each group member.
