Enjoy this wonderful tour in the highest salt desert in the world. The Salar de Uyuni with an area of 10,582 m2. It is located at 3650 masl in the southwest of Bolivia, in the department of Potosí in the Andes mountain range. This is the 3-day tour where you will enjoy the best of the Andes and hotels made of salt with quality and personalized service.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Uyuni – Uyuni Salt Flats – Colchani

The journey begins at 10:30 a.m. with a visit to the historic Train Cemetery, followed by a stop in the town of Colchani to learn about the traditional salt processing. Once inside the majestic Uyuni Salt Flats, we will visit the salt extraction mounds and the old Playa Blanca Hotel, where we will have lunch next to the Dakar Rally monument and the iconic flag-waving area.

In the afternoon, we will explore Incahuasi Island to admire its giant cacti and then stop on the white plain to capture the famous perspective photos. After enjoying the sunset over the salt horizon, we will end the day in the town of Colchani.

Day 2: Colcha K – Volcanoes, Colorful Lagoons – Huayllajara

This day begins at 7:30 a.m., heading towards the Chiguana Salt Flat, with a stop at the viewpoint overlooking the semi-active Ollagüe volcano. Next, we’ll explore the high-altitude lagoons (Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarkota), where we’ll enjoy lunch surrounded by flamingos in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, we’ll cross the Siloli Desert to enter the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, where we’ll visit the iconic Stone Tree. The highlight of the day will be the spectacular Laguna Colorada (Colored Lagoon), famous for its reddish hues and the presence of three flamingo species. Finally, we’ll travel to the town of Huayllajara.

Day 3: Huayllajara – Geysers, Hot Springs – Return to Uyuni / San Pedro de Atacama

The final day begins at 5:00 a.m. with a visit to the Sol de Mañana geysers, the highest point on the route. Afterward, we’ll head to the Polques Hot Springs to enjoy a relaxing soak in the 37°C (99°F) medicinal waters. The tour continues through the surreal Salvador Dalí Desert until we reach the impressive Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), located at the foot of the border with Chile.

From this point, the tour splits depending on your final destination:

  • To San Pedro de Atacama: Around 9:30 a.m., you’ll transfer to the tourist bus to cross the border, arriving in San Pedro at approximately noon.
  • Return to Uyuni: Those returning to Bolivia will continue their journey in a 4×4 vehicle, passing through the Valley of the Rocks and the colonial town of San Cristóbal, to conclude the expedition in the city of Uyuni around 5:30 PM.
