Salt Mines of Maras – Inca Terraces of Moray

The tour of the Salt mines of Maras and the agricultural terraces of Moray is a great complement to the Machu Picchu tours. You will be able to see snow-capped mountains, fields and traditional villages. Daily departures for singles and groups. This tour begins and ends in Cusco.

ITINERARY

we’ll pick you up at your hotel between 8:30 to 9:00 in the morning and then depart by bus through the Urubamba River Valley. On our way to Moray (3200m), we’ll pass the bucolic countryside, where you’ll see the small family farms of corn. we’ll spend time visiting the Inca ruins of Moray, an agricultural laboratory comprising a set of circular concentric terraces, with each terrace replicating distinct microclimates, each representing a 1000m altitude difference under normal farming conditions. The guide will teach us about the site’s construction, design and use.

Our next stop will be the Maras Salt Mines. Long ago the Inca diverted a small saltwater stream from the interior of Mt Qaqawiñay and channeled it through staggered terraces along its slopes which were carved into thousands of small pools. Salt left behind by evaporating water is harvested by the families of the Maras community. After our guided visit, we will board the bus to return to Cusco at approximately 3 p.m..

FOR SHARED SERVICES

Reception Point: The reception service from the hotel applies only to establishments located within the city centre. If the hotel is located outside this area, it will assign you a central location.
Finalization of the Tour: The shared tours culminate in a strategic point looking at the Main Plaza. Due to vehicular congestion in the historic centre, returning to the hotel is usually the quickest and most comfortable option.
Hotels outside the centre: If the hotel is located in the central area, we recommend that you take out money effectively to cover the cost of private transport (taxi) from the final point of the tour.
Punctuality: Passengers must be listed at the indicated time and place. If you do not show up at the scheduled time, the service will be considered a No Show and the company will not assume responsibility or refunds.
Tour Identification: In the shared services, different agencies coincide in the hours and travel zones. Our customers must identify with us with their respective names and tours to carry out, otherwise they may have errors at the time of their receipt.
Staying with the group: Each passenger is responsible for staying with the group and following the instructions in the guide.
Tolerance: Our customers are obliged to stay together with the group, if for some reason they have to leave the group, it is their obligation to inform the guide, so that this is the customer’s experience, if this does not happen, it may affect the normal course of the tour and the entire group.
Responsibility for the return: If the passenger due to negligence leaves or separates from the group, any cost or logistical management to get to the group or return to the hotel/point of origin will be due to the cost and responsibility of the passenger.
