ITINERARY

Day 1 Cusco – Wiñayhuayna (Km. 104) – Aguas Calientes

We will pick up our passengers from their hotels between 4:30 am and 5:00 am, to take them to the Ollantaytambo train station, we board the train to km.104 (2150 m.a.s.l.), here begins our hike towards Chachabamba and then to the archaeological site of Wiñayhuayna (2550 m.a.s.l.); in the afternoon we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in a hotel.

Schedule:

04:30 – 05:00 AM: Pick-up time.
07:45 AM: Train departs for Km 104.
09:00 AM: Check-in at the trailhead.
12:30 PM: Box lunch at Wiñay Wayna.
03:00 PM: Reach the Sun Gate for your first view of the citadel.
04:00 PM: Arrival at Machu Picchu for panoramic photos.
05:00 PM: Arrival at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.
07:00 PM: Group dinner.
08:00 PM: Overnight stay.

Day 2 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco Machu Picchu – Cusco

Our day will begin at dawn, boarding the bus that will take us from Aguas Calientes to the citadel of Machu Picchu. After a 30-minute journey, we will witness an unforgettable sunrise over the Inca sanctuary.

Next, we will enjoy a two-hour guided tour to discover the secrets of its history and its imposing architecture. Afterward, we will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own, where our guides will offer you the best local culinary recommendations. In the afternoon, we will take the train to Ollantaytambo, and finally, our private transportation will take us back to the city of Cusco.

4:30 AM Wake-up call, start of the day at the hotel.

5:30 AM We must be at the Aguas Calientes bus station.

5:00 AM Breakfast at the hotel.

6:00 AM Arrival at the Sanctuary: Entrance to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

7:00 AM Guided tour of the main Inca sectors. 12:00 – 13:00 Lunch: Free time in Aguas Calientes for lunch (at passenger’s expense).

14:55 Train Journey: Departure from the station to Ollantaytambo.

19:00 Return to Cusco and transfer to your accommodation.

  • Private Transportation: Pick-up from your accommodation in Cusco to the train station.
  • Expedition Train: Departure from Ollantaytambo to KM 104 at 7:45 AM (Starting point of the 2-day Inca Trail).
  • Return Connection: Shared transfer (group) from the Ollantaytambo station to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley (includes hotels, Airbnbs, and private accommodations).
  • Descent Bus (Day 1): Bus ticket down from the Machu Picchu citadel to Aguas Calientes.
  • Ascent Bus (Day 2): Bus ticket up from Aguas Calientes to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
  • Entrance Fees and Permits: For the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. Specialized Guide: Accompaniment by a professional, accredited guide fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Meals: Full board during the tour (1 breakfast, 1 packed lunch, and 1 dinner, with vegetarian options).
  • Accommodation: One night’s accommodation in a selected hotel in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
  • Emergency Equipment: First-aid kit.

  • Meals: Breakfast on Day 1 and the final lunch in Aguas Calientes.
  • Optional Transport: Shuttle bus ticket from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes on Day 2 (you may choose a 1-hour scenic hike or purchase the bus ticket on-site for $12.00 USD).
  • Personal Expenses: Travel insurance and gratuities (tips).

*We reserve trains from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo or Poroy at specific times based on availability, and then schedule transfers for those times. If a passenger changes their train ticket at the last minute, transfers from Ollantaytambo or Poroy to Cusco can no longer be provided, as this is a shared service and transfers are scheduled for the originally reserved time.

  • Personal Luggage: Each traveler is responsible for carrying their own backpack with personal items.
  • Cancellation Policy: Eric Adventures does not offer refunds in case of cancellations, voluntary interruptions, or abandonment of the route by the participant.
  • Health and Wellness: It is mandatory to declare any medical condition or prior treatment. Passengers must carry their own medication. Limited Liability: Eric Adventures is not responsible for unforeseen events resulting from natural phenomena (landslides), strikes, demonstrations, or train delays.
  • Required Documentation: It is essential to present your original, valid passport and, if applicable, your current student ID to validate the corresponding benefits.

NOTES:

  • In our shared services, we will pick-up our clients from your hotel as long as it is located in the downtown.
  • In our shared services, at the end of the tour, we leave our clients in a place close to the Main Square, because is easier go walking instead the car for the traffic jam. If your hotel is far from the downtown, take some cash with you in order to take a taxi.
  • Pick-up and drop off times are referential, this will depend on the traffic that can be found in the streets or delay of the other clients, our assistant will be on time but sometimes the transport could delay a few minutes.
  • We reserve the trains from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo or Poroy at certain times based on availability, and then plan the transfers for those times. If the passenger changes their train ticket at last minute, transfers from Ollantaytambo or Poroy to Cusco can no longer be provided as it is a collective service and transfers are scheduled for the hours initially booked.
