We’ll begin our journey exploring the Salar de Atacama, the largest salt flat in Chile. This natural landscape originates in a basin that collects the waters of the San Pedro River and various mountain streams that seep underground.
ITINERARY
At approximately 2,300 meters above sea level, we’ll venture into a mystical basin. Our first stop is the legendary Laguna Cejar. Its vibrant turquoise waters hold a secret: a salt concentration so high that you’ll float effortlessly. It’s a unique sensory experience, a relaxing swim amidst the desert’s silence that will make you feel as light as a feather.
After this moment of disconnection, we’ll discover the Ojos del Salar (Eyes of the Salt Flat). In the midst of the aridity, two circular pools of underground water emerge, surrounded by small reeds and algae that defy the surrounding salinity. It’s the perfect prelude to our final destination: Laguna Tebenquiche. Here, the white expanse of the salt flats stretches to infinity. We end the afternoon sharing an aperitif with a view of the Andes Mountains. Watching the mountains change color at sunset is, without a doubt, a spectacle to remember.
