Q’eswachaca is the last living Inca bridge in the world. Suspended at 3,700 meters above sea level over the Apurímac River canyon, this impressive 28-meter-long structure is made entirely of ichu (Andean straw) and hand-woven plant fibers.
What’s most fascinating is that it’s not just a relic of the past: every year, four local communities come together to recreate a tradition of more than 600 years, destroying the old bridge and weaving a completely new one in just four days. Crossing it is, quite literally, walking on living Inca history.
