Ausangate Treks

This two-day trek is especially dedicated for people who already knew Machu Picchu and for people who want to explore different things, people who want to enjoy wonderful landscapes.

Walk and know the Humantay and Salkantay lagoons and observe the magnificence of the snowy Salkantay enjoying the view and peace.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA - HUMANTAY LAGOON - SOYROCOCHA

04:30 - 05:00 AM we pick up our passengers from their hotels located in the center of the city. Then we will start our trip to the town of Mollepata, where we can have breakfast and use the toilets, then continue our trip by car to Soraypampa (3900msnm). From here we start our hike to the Humantay lake  located at 4200 masl / 13779 ft. After the ascent for 1 hour and 30 minutes approximately we can appreciate this wonderful place, visit the lagoon for about 2 hours and return to Soraypampa to have lunch and rest, after having rested we will go to our camp located in Soyrococha, where we will spend the night and we will enjoy a spectacular view of the imposing Salkantay, one of the highest in the department of Cusco, we will also have the privilege of seeing a starry sky and the majestic Milky Way. Around 6:30 pm we will enjoy our dinner.

DAY 2: SOYROCOCHA - ABRA SALKANTAY - SALKANTAY LAGOON - SOYROCOCHA - SORAYPAMPA - CUSCO

After a good breakfast we will start our hike  towards the Salkantay pass at 4650 masl / 15255 ft. From this place we will have beautiful views of the landscape, we will continue our trek to the Salkantay lagoon where we will make a visit of approximately 1 hour and then return to Soraypampa where we will enjoy our lunch. Around 3:00 PM we will take our bus to to Cusco.

We recommend to bring:

  • Bag with rain protector.
  • Clothes for cold and heat, waterproof.
  • Light pants and rain pants.
  • Shoes for trekking.
  • Slippers for use in showers and hot springs.
  • Synthetic or wool stockings and a sweater.
  • Polo / T-Shirts / Flannel short and long sleeves.
  • Waterproof and hat
  • Sunscreen, alcohol, water bottle, sterilizing tablets, toilet paper and toiletries.
  • Photo camera (wrapped in plastic).
  • Flashlight and batteries.
  • Some snacks, such as chocolate, nutritious bars, fruits, among others.

NOTES:

  • People who live in places less than 1000 meters high, we recommend be in Cusco, at least 2-3 days before, to acclimatise to this tour.
  • In our shared services, we will pick up our clients from your hotel as long as you are in the center of the city.
  • In our shared services, at the end of the tour, we leave our clients in a place close to the Main Square, it is easier to return to your hotel by walking than to go on the bus, since the traffic is terrible. If your hotel is far from the city center, take extra cash to take a taxi.
  • The pick-up and arrival times are referential, this will depend on the traffic that can be found in the streets or the delay of the other customers, our assistant will arrive on time at your hotel, but sometimes the transport could be delayed a few minutes.
  • Tips for guides are not included nor are they obligatory.
