5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS SALKANTAY TREK.

Get to Machu Picchu through one of the highest snow-capped mountains in Peru (6271 masl), the spectacular Salkantay snow-capped mountain and let yourself be captivated by the spectacular high Andean landscapes, habitat of great diversity of flora and fauna. Enjoy this tour of 5 days and 4 nights, in the "Wild Mountain" of the Incas.

ITINERARY

Day before the trek, informative meeting with the guide where the details for the next days will be given.

DAY 1 – CUSCO / CHALLACANCHA / SORAYPAMPA / LAGUNA HUMANTAY.

We pick upr our passengers in their hotels in the center of Cusco, between 04:00hrs and 04:30hrs, in the direction of the town of Mollepata where we make our first stop for breakfast. Then, we will continue to Challacancha from where we will walk to Soraypampa, our place to spend the night. After lunch, we will make a hike of approximately 2 hours to the Laguna de Humantay and after the visit, we will return to our camp to spend our first night in the fascinating crystal igloos of Sky Camp.
Hours of Trekking: Approximately 6 hours, 30 minutes.
Difficulty: Moderate.

DAY 2 – SORAYPAMPA / ABRA SALKANTAY / HUAYRACMACHAY / CHAULLAY

Around 05:30hrs, after breakfast, we begin our trek to the highest point of the route known as Abra Salkantay. We will test our endurance and our acclimatization by ascending a steep and rocky path, an effort that will be worthwhile when we reach the top and see the spectacular landscape we will be surrounded by. We will have a brief rest, and then continue descending the rocky terrain to the area of Huayracmachay, where we will have lunch; we will continue the walk for approximately 3 hours, to Chaullay, where we will have our second night in Andean huts

DAY 3 – CHAULLAY / LA PLAYA

Around 06:00hrs, after our breakfast, we will begin our walk along trails surrounded by vegetation and animals of cloud forest / jungle, in addition to finding small waterfalls. We will arrive at "La Playa", take our lunch and have the afternoon free to explore and optionally take a refreshing bath in the thermal waters of Cocalmayo. Overnight in Jungle Camp.
Hours of Trekking: Approximately 6 hours, 30 minutes.
Difficulty: Easy.

DAY 4 - LA PLAYA / LLACTAPATA / HIDROELÉCTRICA / AGUAS CALIENTES.

Early in the morning, we will have our delicious breakfast and start the walk for an average of 2 hours to "Llactapata", by an original Inca trail that will take us to a small archaeological site, from here we will be able to enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the valley of Urubamba and Machu Picchu. Then, we take our way back to Hidroeléctrica where we will have lunch. After lunch, we continue the hike to Aguas Calientes; the time of hike from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes is approximately 3 hours and is done by the same route as the train, during the way, we can visit the solar clock "Intiwatana". Approximately at 17:00hrs, we will be arriving to Aguas Calientes, and we will go to our hotel in Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the last night of our trip.
Hours of Trekking: Approximately 9 hours.
Difficulty: Moderate to defiant.

DAY 5 - AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO

Very early in the morning, immediately after breakfast at the hotel, we will go by bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu in ascending form for the lapse of average approximately until arriving at the point of access and control of entrance to Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour by the Inca citadel. After a guided tour of approximately 2 hours we will have free time to take pictures and in coordination with the guide we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train and return to the city of Cusco.

  • Matra or mattress per person (our matras or mats are 2 inches and a half, mattress type).

  • Mules to carry tents, food and kitchen equipment.
  • Mules to carry up to a maximum of 7 kilos of cargo per person.

  • First aid kit including oxygen bottle for emergencies.
  • Entrance ticket to Machu Picchu and Salkantay
  • Return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
  • Transfer from Ollantaytambo train station to Cusco.

NOTES

  • Price subject to increase (peru rail, inc)
  • If you wish a hotel of your preference in Aguas Calientes, can be deducted the amount of $10.00 american dollars.
  • In our shared services, we will pick up our clients from their hotel as long as it is in the center of the city.
  • In our shared services, at the end of the tour, we leave our clients in a place near the Main Square, it is easier to return to your hotel walking than to go by bus, since the traffic is terrible. If your hotel is far from the city center, take extra cash to take a taxi.
  • Pick up and arrival times are referential, this will depend on the traffic that can be found in the streets or the delay of other customers, our assistant will arrive on time to your hotel, but sometimes the transport could be delayed a few minutes.
  • Tips for guides are not included and are not obligatory.
  • We reserve trains from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo or Poroy at specific times based on availability, and then plan the transfers for those times. If the passenger changes his train ticket at the last minute, the transfers from Ollantaytambo or Poroy to Cusco, can no longer be provided since it is a collective service and the transfers are scheduled for the time initially reserved.
  • In this tour, we only do the Circuit 1 in the Machupicchu guided tour at 6am, please look at this web site, in order to see the different Machupicchu circuits: https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/circuitos-establecidos/
  • If the clients want to do other circuits, such as: Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Montaña, they have to pay additional US$ 85 american dollars per person(this is according availabilities)
  • If clients won't do with us the Circuit 1 in Machupicchu, they will lose the Machupicchu guided service as well.., so if they want a guide for the Machupicchu portion, they have to contract 01 additional guide, price for him/her is US$ 85 dollars for a 6 people group max(this guide will be just for the Machupicchu portion, not for the Huaynapicchu or Montaña portions).
  • We reserve the right to alter the tour or itinerary, due to availability or customer safety.
  • We have luggage storage in the office, if you don't have a place to leave your luggage during the trek, you can leave it with us.
